Essential oils, which are oils extracted from parts of healing plants and herbs, have many uses. You might be using them around the house, selecting blends for your diffuser, or even making your own bath bombs, but what about your kids? You do want to take some extra precautions when it comes to using essential oils on your kids, but there can be some benefits for using them in their room.

Ways to Use Essential Oils in Kids’ Rooms

One of the best ways to use essential oils with your kids is by putting them in their room. There are actually a few different ways to do this. The reason this is recommended is because you avoid potentially negative reactions when applying them topically – even if they are diluted properly.

Use an Oil Diffuser – This is probably the simplest way to use them in their room. Set up an essential oil diffuser and add a few drops of relaxing oil like lavender. It is going to help them relax and sleep, and even reduce anxiety if your kids get nightmares.

Use Drawer Sachets – Another way you can use oils in your children’s bedroom is with simple drawer sachets. The relaxing scent will be soothing, while also keeping their clothing fresh.

Add to Their Pillows or Curtains – Another option is to create a spray by adding some essential oils to a spray bottle w

ith some distilled water or witch hazel. If you want to keep the spray away from your kids’ skin, you can just spray their mattress before changing the sheets, or put it on their bedroom curtains. They will still get the aromatherapy benefits.

Important Safety Precautions

Remember that you need to have extra safety measures in place when using essential oils in your kids’ rooms or with their health. Always keep the oils on a high shelf where they can’t reach them or knock them down, as ingesting straight oils can be damaging to their health.

When introducing oils to your kids, try with just one oil at a time, especially if it is something being diluted for their skin. With diffusers in their rooms, don’t get too complex with the scents.
